Thank Goodness I am able to write the following words...
Blue came home!
Last night, I sat outside for a very long time, like I have done all week, listening for his collar to jingle. Yesterday marked 6 days of him missing and I was starting to feel pessimistic about the whole situation. I wasnt going to give up on him, but I was starting to worry as to just how he was getting along with out food or water.
The rain started and I went inside to work on a blog post.
It wasnt even 5 minutes of me sitting here at my computer, that I heard a cry at the back door.
I looked up and couldn't believe my eyes!
Blue was standing there, soaking wet, crying to come in!
I let him in and he immediately ran over to where we keep their food, and started devouring Grey's food! Just like old times!
He was in such a rush, he almost knocked all the food over and did spill the water.
We fed him some more, and then caught him trying to drink out of the toilet!
Where ever he was, he obviously was lacking food and water. He looks slightly thinner but other than that, he didn't have a scratch on him. He looked perfect.
He is perfect.
I actually woke the kids up to tell them, I was so excited. I didn't want them going on for one more second not knowing where he was.
All four of us were so happy.
Blue slept in my daughter's room last night and was up early this morning to eat again.
Although I was reluctant to let him back out, the truth is, he is an outdoor cat. As his owner, I want him to be happy. As much as it makes me nervous, he did survive for 6 days with no food or water which is better than I could do. He obviously knows what he is doing and knows how to survive. He knows where he lives and he knows who loves him.
He is a survivor and we have to respect that. As he was sitting by the door this morning, waiting to go out, I needed to remind myself of this.
So, out he went. Where he sat in the yard for over an hour before running off, chasing a bird.
Things seem back to normal around here.
Normalcy feels amazing!
Welcome home, Blue. We missed you bunches.
Don't do that to Mama again Mister!
